JD Sports tackles dishonest minority
July 21st, 2011
Most retailers suffer considerable losses at the hands of dishonest employees. Impressed by AMBIT’s standards and expertise, JD Sports Fashion commissioned us to produce a training DVD specifically aimed at reducing theft and fraud by store staff. The DVD encourages honest employees to be vigilant and report any dishonest activities that they may witness and warns dishonest staff that they will be caught and prosecuted.
Project commissioner and Group Loss Control Director of JD Sports Fashion Tim Edwards said:
“The professionalism of the Ambit team on [the Fashion Forum Conflict Resolution DVD] prompted me to decide to produce a training video on the subject of staff dishonesty specifically for our Company. I have seen the end results which I am very excited about.”
COLLABORATION ON CONFLICT
May 19th, 2011
Under the umbrella of the Loss Prevention Fashion Forum with sponsorship from Cardinal Security and RSS, eleven top retailers have worked with AMBIT to create a powerful training DVD showing store staff how to avoid, minimise and manage conflict.
The DVD was launched at the Retail Fraud Conference in April by Steve Brant, Operations Controller of Peacocks who observed,
“A multifaceted piece of media, it highlights just how effectively ‘competing’ retailers can work together. The DVD proves why sharing knowledge and experience is crucial in our fight against those who aim to steal our goods and threaten the well being of our store colleagues.”
Peacocks, Republic, Claire’s, JD Sports Fashion, Matalan, TK Maxx, Harrods, Aurora, Monsoon and GAP are now beginning to roll out the training across their retail networks.
Covering Angry Customers, Fitting Rooms, Shoplifting, Till Theft and Store Robbery, the DVD shows how excellent customer service and tight adherence to procedure can help to minimise conflict and crime and stresses the importance of avoiding risks and always making safety the top priority.
Says Tim Edwards, Group Loss Control Director of JD Sports Fashion
“Ambit demonstrated their knowledge and excellence throughout and made the whole process easy. I have seen the end results which I am very excited about. A great Company and superb people to work with.”

The scenarios are set within a fashion context but the themes are generic across all retail. The DVD course is available for purchase from AMBIT on 0845 402 3175.

Ambit Goes Tapeless
June 18th, 2009
In May 2009, AMBIT invested in a brand new Panasonic HPX 500E P2 broadcast camcorder and Fujinon Genius 2 lens.
The camcorder doesn’t use tape but instead visuals and sound are recorded onto memory cards. This improves the workflow, minimises waste and allows recordings to be made in a variety of formats, including full high definition. AMBIT has also upgraded its editing facilities to cater for HD.
Says Pete Simon, AMBIT joint MD, “With the new camera and lens we can offer our clients the best quality currently available and the improved workflow is very helpful when a fast turnaround is required.”

Conflict Resolution Training for the Co-operative Group
February 3rd, 2009
AMBIT’s drama – based interactive training DVD for the Co-operative Group dealing with conflict resolution and theft prevention is nearing completion.
The programme presents some typical flashpoints such as underage sales and gives Co-operative Group staff the opportunity to select appropriate responses and hear expert feedback.
Says Steve Hogarth of the Co-operative Group, “The dramas are very realistic, which is vital for credibility and relevance. Staff will certainly recognise the situations and this training will give them the opportunity to consider new and productive approaches and ultimately reduce customer conflict in the stores.”
